Welcome to Finger of Scorn!

What is this page about?

Finger of Scorn is a new fan site created for fans of the legendary underground heavy metal band Cirith Ungol! This website was inspired by the old Cirith Ungol Webpit, which was a fantastic resource for fans looking to learn more about the history and music of Cirith Ungol. The goal for Finger of Scorn is to offer a fan portal that contains a lot of good information without becoming overwhelming or difficult to use. The most recent news will always be posted here on the main page, but older updates will be available in the archive. Please enjoy your time on the site and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Third Annual Cirith Ungol Day in Ventura, California

October 10, 2018

Cirith Ungol Day

Today marks the third annual celebration of Cirith Ungol Day in Ventura, California! In 2016, Ventura mayor Erik Nasarenko declared October 10th as a local holiday at a ceremony commemorating the hometown heavy metal heroes and their enduring spirit as a band after their very successful Frost and Fire festival was concluded. Make sure you bust out your Cirith Ungol albums today. It will be a normal day for me, because it's always Cirith Ungol Day in my house.

September 11, 2018

The Planet of Doom

Cirith Ungol have recorded a new song entitled "Witch's Game" for an upcoming animated film entitled The Planet of Doom, which will be produced by Riff Lodge Animation. The Planet of Doom will chronicle of the journey of a silent protagonist, using the soundtrack as a major part of the film's storytelling. The film should appeal to fans of Heavy Metal and Wizards. The soundtrack for the film will also feature new songs by the following acts:

If you're a fan of Cirith Ungol, this film should be a must-see. The film is expected in 2019. If you're interested, you can check out the preview below or read more information about it on the official Kickstarter page for the project. I'll definitely be picking up a copy of the film when it is available. I hope that every Cirith Ungol fan will do the same. After all, when was the last time that Cirith Ungol's music was featured in a film soundtrack?

As for "Witch's Game", the band has made the song available through their official Bandcamp page and will be releasing it as a 12" single on October 5th, 2018 on the band's own Liquid Flames Music, the same label that they used to release the original copies of Frost and Fire. In addition to the fantastic cover art by long-time collaborator Michael Whelan, the single will feature a live version of the classic "Doomed Planet" on the b-side. If you're as excited as I was to hear the first new Cirith Ungol song since 1990's Paradise Lost, you can also check out the preview below.

I think that "Witch's Game" was absolutely worth the wait. I'm hoping that this will be the first of many new Cirith Ungol announcements that we can all enjoy together as fans of the greatest heavy metal band of all time! You can order "Witch's Game" through Metal Blade Records and other retailers that stock real music. Buy or die!
